Yu Zhongchi, President of the China Engineering Industry Enterprise Management Association, noted in his speech that "China's Top 500 Engineering Enterprises" - is a research report and publication initiative organized by the Association. It has been published continuously since 2003 and already has 23 issues. As part of this initiative, the operating activities of relatively healthy enterprises in the sector are analyzed taking into account the overall situation in the industry and in the context of creating a strong production center. By analyzing and exploring factors such as enterprise operation scale, technological innovation, growth potential, resource efficiency and management efficiency, the report comprehensively and systematically scientifically reflects the changing landscape of economic scale, industrial structure, regional distribution, industrial concentration and corporate competitiveness of the engineering industry. It serves as a valuable resource for government agencies, businesses and related departments, attracting continued attention and appreciation from government, industry, businesses, the media and all sectors of society.

At the conference, Qiu Jiang, deputy secretary-general of the China Engineering Industry Enterprise Management Association, presented a research report on “China's Top 500 Engineering Enterprises in 2025.” It released the rankings of China's top 500 engineering enterprises, China's top 500 engineering enterprises by revenue, the world's top 500 world-class engineering enterprises, and five industry sub-rankings. The report shows that despite difficult internal and external conditions, China's top 500 engineering enterprises achieved cumulative operating revenue of 12.29 trillion yuan in 2025, up 7.59% from the previous year. Cumulative profit reached 739.507 billion yuan, up 16.85% year-on-year. Average return on net assets reached 8.94%, significantly higher than 2024 (6.11%) and higher than 2023 (8.80%). The average return on total assets was 6.30%, slightly below the 2023 figure (7.09%) but still above the 2024 rate (6.20%), indicating that overall return on corporate assets remained strong.

The research report shows that in terms of asset turnover efficiency, the average asset turnover ratio for the top 500 enterprises was 72.33%, lower than 74.80% in 2024 and 76.12% in 2023, showing a slight downward trend. Average labor productivity per employee was 2.331 million yen, which is lower than the 2024 figure (2.5547 million yen), but generally consistent with the 2023 figure (2.3314 million yen). The average cost-to-revenue ratio reached 91.74% in 2025, significantly higher than 78.81% in 2024, indicating increasing cost-per-unit revenue pressure for engineering enterprises. The total operating revenue of China's 500 largest engineering enterprises was 12.49 trillion yuan in 2025, up 8.8% from the previous year. Although overall industry output continues to increase, the pace of growth has slowed. In the ranking of the 500 largest engineering enterprises in the world in 2025, the first group includes China, the USA and Japan. China (including the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan regions) has 151 enterprises in the ranking, the United States - 102, and Japan - 79. The second tier includes Germany, India, South Korea and Sweden, with Germany and India having 20 and 18 enterprises respectively in the ranking, South Korea - 16, and Sweden - 15. The third tier includes countries such as the UK, France and the Netherlands.

As part of the conference, an official award ceremony was held for enterprises included in the lists of the 500 largest engineering enterprises in China in 2025 and world-class engineering enterprises in the world.
